40 Days for Life - Second Week of October 2023
Logging my second shift praying for the end of abortion
This is a log of our second visit to Planned Parenthood for the “40 Days for Life” prayer campaign for October 2023.
My son, Joe, and I did our second shift tonight praying for the end of abortion for the “40 Days for Life” campaign. Our allotted time again was 6 to 7 p.m. when the abortion facility is finishing its gruesome day. I recorded another of our trips saying the rosary up and down the sidewalk in front of the abortion facility in the linked video above.
One of the first people I saw today was a male worker walking out and turning right away from me and Joe. He did not look at us, but crossed the street and waited at the bus stop for a time. He had the look of a nice sort of guy, someone I might like if we worked together. It was sad that he worked at such place. But clearly he was not making his fortune there. I’ve often seen expensive luxury cars leaving the place, doubtless the abortionist themselves. (God have mercy on them.)
One young man slowed his car to give me his finger, an all to common communication. To such things, I often respond with a positive thumbs-up. I will not return negativity with my own.
Yet, the theme for taunts today centered around an assumption that I did not have gainful employment. The first lady slowed her car, saying, “Get an f-ing job!” Later, another two ladies offered a similar approach: “Get a job, loser!”
They seemed to think my time here was wasted. And yet, I think, if I am to be judged for my deeds, surely the little time I put into it will rank as the highest I have done. Even so, at times it does seem as if I have wasted my time as things never seem to change. And hearts always seem to be untouched. I can’t help wonder why God delays his justice.
Today, I was particularly downcast by the horrific news coming out of Israel. Especially with the news of people being killed in the streets. Elderly people waiting at bus stops, butchered where they stood. Women being kidnapped, raped and killed. Babies—BABIES!—being slaughtered in the streets, many beheaded.
I cannot comprehend such evil. Yet some are blind to it. They are blind to the evil of abortion too. They simply cannot see it. They come to believe that when something bad happens to you, you can kill to solve your problem. You are justified in killing.
I don’t get it. God have mercy on us all.
